Dersingham is a large and thriving village located in the attractive countryside of North-West Norfolk, just a mile from the Sandringham estate and two miles from The Wash. It is halfway between the port of King’s Lynn and the seaside town of Hunstanton.
The village is mentioned in the Doomsday book and in medieval times the sea came up to the village. The Parish Church of St Nicholas once had a spire with a bell that acted as a guide to sailors. From the then small village it has increased in size, especially in the last 50 years and now has a population of around 4,600 people.
There are three churches, two pubs, a large village hall, a social club, childrens playground, skatepark and well used sports ground. There are many clubs and organisations in the village, run by residents making it a lively and active place to live and work. The village has a good junior school, a doctor’s surgery, post office and library together with a range of shops, other services and cafes.
The Parish Council produces a village magazine every two months that is delivered to every household and published on this website.
The Parish Council has a maximum of 18 councillors to represent the residents of the Parish. You can find out more about the village and the work of the Parish Council by scrolling down the page or using the menu above.
